Boat Rental

There are several options for boat rental from small dinghies to larger motorcraft. Some rental firms will also supply snorkeling and diving equipment. Rates vary by season and length of boat. Small boats provide more access to beaches and shallower regions but have more limited range and are less comfortable, typically with no bimini top to get out of the sun. Larger boat have better range and comfort but cannot access shallower waters and are more costly to rent. Choose the option that best fits your goals and budget.

Anchoring and Reef Damage

Avoid extremely shallow areas and never anchor near coral reefs to prevent damage. Within park service waters, mooring buoys are provided in some bays and anchoring is usually discouraged or expressly prohibited. Ask the rental agency for recommendations on where to anchor to avoid causing any damage to the delicate coral around St. John. There is good advice on anchoring in the USVI from the Friends of Virgin Island National Park.
